Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Sanjeev Loomba, SM was commissioned in the Armed Corps on 23rd December ,1973. He is graduate of National Defence Academy and an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College,Wellington.He has also done Senior Command course at college of combat and Long Defence Management Course at College of Defence Management. He has done the Joint Services Staff College Course at Canberra, Australia in 1993 and represented the Defence Services at an International Symposium on Information Superiorty at Paris in 2002. He was a member of the first Info Warfare Committee of the Defence Services in 2001.
In his illustrious career spannig over 36 years, the General Officer has held various instructional and staff appointments which include Bde. Cdr. of an Armed Bde,and GOC of a Division.He has been the Brig.Gen Staff of 2 Corps, the premier strike corps and Chief Instructor at Defence Services Staff College at Wellington from 2008-2010. His last appiontment was at HQ IDS as ACIDS PP FS Division which deals with Defence Planning and Acquisition Processes of the three Services.
The Officer is a recipient of the coveted "Sena Medal" ,the COAS Commedation and Army Cdrs Commendation.His educational qualification include M.Sc, MMS and M.Phil and he is currently pursuing Ph.D from Madras University. His subject of research is "India`s Defence Expenditure - an engine of growth".
