Shri Debashis Das, Distinguished Scientist & Associate Director (E), Electronics & Instrumentation Group, BARC has assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director, ECIL on 2nd November 2016.
Shri Debashis Das has done B. Tech in Electronics Engineering from Mysore University and joined BARC in the year 1983. He belongs to 26th batch of BARC Training School. Shri Das has designed and developed many of the control and safety systems for research and power reactors. The systems designed by Shri Das includes Reactor Regulating System for 220 MWe Nuclear Power Plants, Safety Systems for power and research reactors and Nuclear Instrumentation and reactor core monitoring system for compact Light Water Reactor (LWR) and Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR). He has carried out pioneering work in Radiation Detectors Development for various applications in reactors, passive / active interrogation and detectors using special materials. His field of specialization is radiation detector for reactor applications. During his earlier responsibility as Head, Electronics Division in BARC, he has lead the teams working on many frontier areas of Detector, ASICs and E&I Systems for mega science projects, nuclear instrumentation for reactors and radiation instruments, ultrasonic inspection and bio-medical instruments.
Shri Das has many DAE awards and Group Achievement awards to his credit for his work on reactor related instrumentation.
